Operations & process improvement
Your business has grown.
Your systems haven't.
I help growing businesses untangle messy processes, organise the moving parts, and build simpler ways of working – with the option to have it all implemented for you.
Sound familiar?
Growth has a way of outrunning the systems holding it up.
What I do
I help small, founder-led businesses run more easily.
As businesses grow, processes often become messy, scattered, and overly dependent on the founder or one or two key people. Information ends up spread across emails, spreadsheets, folders, messaging apps and memory. Things technically work – but not consistently, and not without you.
I look at how your business actually runs day to day, work out what's making it harder than it needs to be, and recommend improvements. If you'd rather not do the work yourself, I can implement it for you too. No unnecessary software, no jargon – just a simpler way of working.
Services
Choose the level of support you actually need.
You don't have to buy both. Some clients just want clear recommendations. Others want it built and handed over.
A focused review, and a clear plan.
A close look at one area of your business – what's happening now, what isn't working, and where time or effort is being lost. You get practical recommendations you can implement yourself.
- Review of the existing process
- Bottlenecks and confusion points identified
- Prioritised, practical recommendations
- Templates or examples where useful
- Written documentation + a walkthrough call
The recommendations, actually built.
For when you'd rather it just got done. I build and hand over the agreed improvements – a fixed scope and fixed price, agreed before work starts.
- SOPs, checklists and templates
- Redesigned workflows and trackers
- Onboarding and handover processes
- Organised documentation and information
- Clearer responsibilities across the team
Larger projects are priced according to scope – typically £1,000–£2,500+ for implementation work. Final pricing is always agreed before anything begins.
How it works
A simple, five-step way to get there.
Tell me what's not working
You describe the part of the business that's causing friction – as messy or vague as it currently feels.
Understand
I review the current process and get to the bottom of what's actually causing the problem.
Recommend
You receive clear, practical recommendations and guidance – no jargon, no unnecessary tools.
Decide
Implement the recommendations yourself, or ask for support putting them in place. Entirely your call.
Improve
Where you'd like implementation, I build the agreed changes and hand everything over.
Who it's for
Small, growing, founder-led businesses.
Typically 2–20 people, established enough that clients already pay for what you do. You're not looking for someone to build your business from scratch – you're past the point where your internal processes have kept up with your growth.
You might be thinking:
- "Why am I still doing this myself?"
- "I don't have time to sort this out."
- "We need to document this properly."
- "I know this could be done more efficiently."
The founder
Nana Dembele
Founder, The Operations Room
I've spent my career working across executive support, business administration, digital marketing campaigns and project and events coordination – often in environments where there's a lot happening at once and someone needs to make sense of it all. I've supported senior leaders, coordinated projects and campaigns, managed stakeholders, organised documentation and helped create processes that make day-to-day work easier to manage.
Over time, I noticed a common problem across growing businesses: the business changes, the team grows, the workload increases – but the way everything is organised doesn't always keep up. Processes live in people's heads. Information ends up scattered across different places. People aren't always sure who owns what. Founders end up answering the same questions, or getting pulled into things that shouldn't need their attention.
That's the kind of problem I solve. I work with small, growing businesses to look at what's making the business harder to run than it needs to be, then turn that into clearer, simpler and more practical ways of working – without adding software, systems or complexity for the sake of it.
"Your business should be able to grow without everything becoming increasingly difficult to manage."

Questions
A few things people usually ask.
Do I need to use new software?
No. The focus is on finding the simplest way to improve how your business works. Sometimes that means changing a process rather than introducing another tool.
Do you implement the recommendations?
Yes. You can take the recommendations and implement them yourself, or ask for implementation support as a separate service.
Do I need to buy both services?
No. You can purchase the review and recommendations on their own, with no obligation to also purchase implementation.
Do you work with small businesses?
Yes – the service is specifically designed around the needs of small and growing businesses, typically 2–20 people.
Do you work remotely, or in person?
Both. Most work is done remotely and can support clients anywhere in the UK, with in-person support also available for local clients.
How much does it cost?
Reviews start from £150. Implementation starts from £500. Larger projects are priced according to scope, and pricing is always agreed before work begins.
